DESCRIPTION:Join biological illustrator Julie Child in the gallery for a casual conversation about her life as a 20th century biological illustrator.  Beginning with her intense interest in nature as a child\, Julie will discuss her education at the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Medical Illustration\, her years as an illustrator for scientists at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods Hole\, and her work as an illustrator of gardening books. Julie will also explain how her connections to the Woods Hole scientific community inspired her designs for T-shirts\, plates\, children’s books and more. \nIncluded with Museum admission. DESCRIPTION:Get in the holiday spirit and learn techniques similar to those used by Ralph and Martha Cahoon!  Decorate a small box with a pinecone inspired by a Swedish gourd design in this workshop led by local decorative painter Mary Svenson.  Mary was a member of the Society of Decorative Painters and has been teaching\, painting and studying traditional folk art for 30 years.  This workshop is open to all levels and materials will be provided.  \n$50 per person/$40 museum members  \n  \n
