SUMMARY:Mind-Body Music: Mitigate Stress with Music at the Cahoon Museum
DESCRIPTION:Explore music as a vehicle for inspiring joy through the practice of wellness. Learn how to combat stress by eliciting the relaxation response with your favorite music and incorporate mind-body techniques derived from mindfulness\, meditation\, and yoga practices in your daily life. Students will learn to play the kalimba and receive an instrument to use at home.  \nA Cape Cod native\, Nick Suchecki holds a Bachelor of Music from Berklee College of Music and a Master of Music from New England Conservatory.  Additionally\, Nick has earned a Mind-Body Medicine education certification from Massachusetts General Hospital.  Currently\, Nick is a PhD candidate at Lesley University\, where his research focuses on the intersection of music\, mindfulness\, trauma\, and ecopsychology.  \nNick’s teaching philosophy is rooted in empowering each student’s sense of wellness\, belonging\, and autonomy\, while considering how the mind and body can learn most efficiently.  In addition to teaching at the Cape Symphony\, Nick is also an Adjunct Professor of Expressive Therapies at Lesley University.  \nAs an active performer\, Nick has performed across New England with groups such as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas\, Ronnie Spector\, Funktapuss\, Steve Morgan & the Kingfish\, the Cape Cod Sax Quartet\, and of course\, the Cape Symphony! \nCost $175/$150 members – a $25 discount is available for those who already own a Kalimba. \nREGISTER
