SUMMARY:Cotuit Kite Festival Family Day at the Cahoon
DESCRIPTION:Register to make a kite between 1:00 and 3:00pm; kite making free. \nMuseum admission $5 per family for the day\, at the door\, 10am – 4pm! \nCelebrate all things airborne at the Cahoon Museum!  Artists Hilary Hutchison and David Sigel will be under the tent on the Museum lawn from 1:00-3:00pm offering a free hands-on mermaid or fish tail wind kite art activity. Have fun watching your fanciful creations come to life in front of the Museum where we will display them for all to see.  Once you’ve made your kite\, step inside the Museum for our special $5 per family admission and see the new exhibitions. SUMMARY:Art Collecting: Learn from the Experts
DESCRIPTION:The Cahoon Museum’s Art Auction offers a unique opportunity for individual art collectors and businesses at all stages of their collecting journeys to support regional artists and build distinctive collections. Curator and art advisor Mallory Ruymann\, Principal/Head of Curatorial Projects at art_works\, will join art advisor Paul Kotakis\, founder of PÁIDIA Arts\, and artists Andrew Fish and Azita Moradkhani for a discussion about contemporary art collecting practices. Mallory Ruymann will discuss the relationships that inform the art ecosystem along with collecting strategies that individuals and institutions can employ to engage the most compelling artists of our time. Paul Kotakis will offer insight into the art market and how to tap into local resources to build relationships directly with artists. Guest artists will speak to the impact of being included in an art collection. The program will include a question and answer session to be moderated by Education and Programs Manager Michael MacMahon. The program will take place on Zoom\, registration required. \nRegister\nRead more about Mallory Ruymann \nMallory Ruymann is a curator\, art advisor\, educator\, and writer working with emerging contemporary artists. She is Principal and Head of Curatorial Projects at art_works and also functions as a strategic arts business and collections consultant to artists\, studios\, institutions\, and individuals. She received an MA from Tufts University and has worked at institutions across the United States\, including Tufts University Art Galleries\, Massachusetts College of Art and Design\, Institute of Contemporary Art Boston\, The Fabric Workshop and Museum\, Acadia Summer Arts Program\, and The Chinati Foundation/La Fundación Chinati.
