DESCRIPTION:Come create a range of textured colorful papers using Gelli Printing\, a monoprinting process that does not require a press. After exploring textures and layers\, make a collage from your papers inspired by the Donald Saaf exhibit. A wide range of tools and materials will be supplied as part of the workshop.  \nInstructor Christine Martell has been teaching a wide range of techniques for more than 30 years. Of all media\, Gelli printing is her favorite topic to teach because anyone can be successful whether you think you are artistic or not. DESCRIPTION:Look at nature in a new way! Biological illustration consists of keen observation of the subject and recording what is observed\, while focusing on form and function.  Using approachable media such as graphite pencils\, blending stumps and a kneaded eraser\, students will have various opportunities to practice and sharpen their observation skills.  Instructor Wendy Chadbourne is a Certified Medical Illustrator and the founder of Inky Mouse studios\, a freelance illustration studio specializing in veterinary\, medical and scientific illustration. She has created illustrations for a wide range of clients including MRI clinicians\, veterinary surgeons\, scientific researchers and zoological facilities.  Participants of all levels are welcome and materials will be provided. \n$45 per person/$35 museum members \nREGISTER

Join Curator\, Annie Dean for a member’s only sneak preview of the new exhibit\, Julie Child and the Art of Biological Illustration \nArtist Julie Child has spent a lifetime documenting marine animals for scientists at the Marine Biological Laboratory\, creating horticultural illustrations for gardening books\, teaching\, and collecting biological specimens of interest.  This exhibition includes her drawings\, illustrated books\, samples from her extensive entomological collection (all from Cape Cod)\, children’s book illustrations\, and the work of her adult students.
