DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT \nThis fall the Cahoon Museum is celebrating the work of Martha Cahoon with a paint night inspired by her folk art. Participants will try their hand at recreating a Martha Cahoon work not currently on display at the museum while enjoying refreshments\, fun\, and friends. \n  \nAll materials and admission to the museum are included in the price. \n$45 per person. $40 Members \n  \n

SUMMARY:Scrimshaw Lecture Series: We Are All Whalers Presented by Dr. Michael J Moore
DESCRIPTION:Michael Moore is a Senior Scientist at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute. His recent book\, We Are All Whalers: The Plight of Whales and Our Responsibility concerns how ongoing human activities have impacted the endangered North Atlantic Right Whale. Since 1986\, Moore has investigated why populations of North Atlantic right whales have not rebounded as they could have in the eight decades since whaling was outlawed. Moore will describe how\, we\, as consumers can understand what is going on\, and what we can do about the problem. \nThe Cahoon Museum Lecture Series presents expert voices on important topics related to the exhibition\, Scrimshaw: The Whaler’s Art\, on view from June 29 through October 30\, 2022. Researchers\, best-selling authors\, and field experts bring national perspective to the history and artistry of scrimshaw\, the maritime art and antiques market\, and more! \nThe Lecture Series will take place at Freedom Hall\, 976 Main Street\, Cotuit\, and registration is required.\n$25 per person | $20 for museum members\n  \nRegister\n
