SUMMARY:Gelli Print on Fabric Workshop with Christine Martell
DESCRIPTION:Learn Gelli printing\, a monoprinting process that does not require a press\, and explore textures and layers by combining materials. Experiment using the Gelli printmaking process on fabric\, inspired by the colorful designs of Joe Cunningham on view at the museum.  A wide range of tools and materials will be supplied as part of the workshop. Instructor Christine Martell has been teaching a wide range of techniques for more than 30 years. Of all media\, Gelli printing is her favorite topic to teach because anyone can be successful with it at any level of artistic ability. She holds a BFA from Rhode Island School of Design and an MS in Education from Portland State University.  \n$55/$45 museum members  \nRegister

DESCRIPTION:Barbara Burgo\, Co-founder and Curator of the Cape Cod Cape Verdean Museum and Cultural Center\, will share the story behind Pano di Terra\, a traditional\, handwoven cloth from Cape Verde.  Pano di Terra have been documented since the 15th century and feature beautiful\, geometric motifs\, passed down through generations. DESCRIPTION:Instructor Bo Anselmo guides you through the process of converting an old quilt into wearable art!  Inspired by the history and presence of generations of women who created quilts from found and repurposed fabrics\, make a timeless article of clothing from used textiles\, giving them new life.  Bo is an artist\, educator and expressive arts therapy student who has been creating and teaching art for many years. Bring an old quilt\, an old pair of jeans that fit you\, a working sewing machine\, thread and bobbins for your sewing machine\, any decorative beads or buttons you might want to use\, and your joy and great sense of humor!  If you do not have a sewing machine\, we have a limited number available to borrow\, so please contact Leslie (lgoldman@cahoonmuseum.org). \n$55 per person/45 museum members \n\nRegister

Use a square within a frame format to play with pattern and space and work with color\, scale\, and value to create a balanced composition.  Bold\, graphic prints are a useful tool for this kind of sewing project\, and you will learn an effective way to incorporate one-of-a-kind fabrics into a composition. \nA sought-after lecturer and teacher in contemporary fiber arts\, Pat Pauly shares her wealth of knowledge from decades of working in design. Recognized nationally and internationally\, her work evokes natural forms that are bold and graphic. Her award-winning art quilts have been featured in numerous publications and exhibitions. Her workshops focus on design and technique\, as well as when to apply the rules\, and when to toss them out. \nStudents will need to bring their own sewing supplies.  A detailed supply list will be provided to students upon registration.  \n$300/$250 members
