DESCRIPTION:If you love garden\, forest and field\, join botanical illustrator Ellen Duarte in exploring plants and nature through drawing and painting. See plants as you have never seen them through careful observation and drawing. Learn new skills for using watercolor to render stems\, leaves\, and blooms\, try new methods of color mixing using a limited palette\, and discuss ways these skills can be used to create plant portraits\, studies\, and journals.  Ellen Duarte taught art in the Barnstable Public Schools before receiving her Certificate in Botanical Illustration.  She has exhibited and received several awards for her work. Class size is limited to 8\, and materials will be provided.    \nPrice $55 per person/$45 museum members   \n

Join Curator\, Annie Dean for a member’s only sneak preview of the new exhibit\, Julie Child and the Art of Biological Illustration \nArtist Julie Child has spent a lifetime documenting marine animals for scientists at the Marine Biological Laboratory\, creating horticultural illustrations for gardening books\, teaching\, and collecting biological specimens of interest.  This exhibition includes her drawings\, illustrated books\, samples from her extensive entomological collection (all from Cape Cod)\, children’s book illustrations\, and the work of her adult students.
