Pedro de Movellan: Flux

May 6 – December 20, 2026

Flux presents a focused exhibition of sculptures by de Movellán, one of the foremost contemporary practitioners of kinetic art. Installed both on the Museum grounds and within its galleries, these works embody de Movellán’s distinctive blend of precision engineering and expressive form, in which motion itself becomes an integral part of the medium of sculpture.

Pedro de Movellán has built a distinguished career in kinetic sculpture spanning more than three decades. Raised in an environment rich in artistic and technical influence—the son of an abstract painter and an architect—de Movellán brings an unusually rigorous yet intuitive approach to his work. He studied sculpture and industrial design before dedicating himself fully to art, and his practice reflects a deep engagement with balance, mechanics, and the unpredictable poetry of movement.

Across international exhibitions, de Movellán has earned recognition for artwork that respond to air, gravity, and subtle environmental forces. These works are crafted with meticulous attention to materials—stainless steel, aluminum, wood, brass—and calibrated so that even the faintest breeze sets them into lyrical motion. The sculptures embody his ongoing exploration of movement as an aesthetic and conceptual force—inviting viewers to contemplate time, energy, and the grace of continual change.

De Movellán lives and works in Stockbridge, MA.
