Instructor Susan Porter will help you create a festive book full of surprises, packed with words, letters, tiny booklets, pockets, photos, windows, and other ingredients. You will take home a dramatic one-of-a-kind book and develop skills to create celebration books for yourself and others. Start your day finding inspiration in the quilt exhibit on view, followed by creating the form of your accordion book, painting, and demonstrations. After lunch, dive into materials; explore paint, paper, thread, buttons, beads, feathers, and more to add meaning and beauty to your book. Whether your theme is celebration, encouragement, commemorative, or other, you may find that this book form will become a centerpiece of your gift-giving!

Susan is an active member of the New England Book Artists and retired art teacher. Some materials are provided; feel free to bring your own ephemera for book contents (photos, tickets) and favorite tools if preferred (olfa/xacto knife, bone folder, metal ruler, drawing tools). Bring your own bag lunch as this is an all day program.
