2 Lectures: 11:00am & 2:00pm
Boston artist Peter Gabel creates miniature masterworks to scale using the mediums of paper and shells. Peter will give insight into what compels him to create shellwork art in fine scale miniature, his inspiration from nineteenth-century sailors valentines and shell floral arrangements under glass domes, and he will explain his process for creating these captivating miniature artworks.
Several works by Peter Gabel are on view in the Sailors Valentines exhibition, including the Mermaid’s Dollhouse, a one-of-a-kind piece requiring over 300 hours of work made entirely of naturally colored seashells and sea life from all over the world.
