Pochoir is a stencil-based printing technique that was popular from the late 19th century through the 1930’s. In this workshop, exhibiting artist Carol Fitzsimonds will share some of the history of this technique with a range of examples from historic to contemporary prints. She will then demonstrate making a stencil and printing with gouache. There will be several sets of stencils already cut for students to use to begin designing one or more original Pochoir prints, and students will be able to make their own stencils as well. Materials and museum admission are included in the cost, and light refreshments will be served.
