Art historian and curator Cindy Nickerson takes an in-depth look at the work of 20th century Cape Cod folk artists Ralph and Martha Cahoon. Nickerson will trace their evolution from furniture decorators to fine artists whose work was collected by many socially prominent people – including First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy – from the 1950s through the 1970s. Discover how their styles were rooted in their Cape Cod childhoods and their business as antiques dealers and how mermaids became their signature motif.
